Globalization And The On Globalization - 1579 Words

Before reading a paper on globalization and the arguments for and against it, one must know the definition of globalization itself to fully understand the case. Globalization, according to the Global Workforce Project (2015), â€Å"Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world.† It is also important to note that globalization has been occurring for many years in global history, for example, the Silk Road that connected China and Europe in the Middle Ages. Though the Silk Road is considered history today, globalization has been growing, changing, and continuing since those days. As with anything in this world there are both support ers and protestors to globalization and its effects on the world economy, trade, people, and the environment. This paper will discuss the major points for each side of the argument and answer the question, for me personally, if globalization has been overall good, bad, or neutral. It will also discuss the IR theories on globalization. One of the arguments for globalization made is that it allows for the spread of cultures across the world.
